Presolana Ski Arena 365: following a successful summer, a busy autumn lies ahead

Just over two months after its official opening on June 13, Presolana Ski Arena 365 is taking stock of its first summer season – and the results are extremely positive.

Born from the partnership between Neveplast and Neve Srl, owner of Presolana Ski, the project has brought a new opportunity to Passo della Presolana to enjoy and practice skiing and snowboarding even during the snow-free months, with a facility designed both for competitive training and for the general public.

Following the success of its first months, attention is already turning to autumn, with a calendar packed with bookings.

Ski clubs from across Italy and Europe

During its first summer, numerous ski clubs travelled to Presolana for training sessions, taking advantage of the opportunity to work on technique and maintain their feeling on skis throughout the summer.

Interest quickly extended beyond Italy, with groups and athletes arriving from Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany.

Italian participation was equally significant, with ski clubs travelling to Presolana from Lombardy, Valle d’Aosta, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, Liguria, Lazio and Campania.

Alongside ski clubs, Presolana Ski Arena 365 also welcomed teams from regional committees, including the Alpi Centrali Committee, with both alpine skiing and snowboard cross athletes.

High temperatures and the early closure of glaciers during August also made summer training on snow increasingly difficult. For many clubs, Presolana Ski Arena 365 therefore represented a practical solution to ensure continuity in their training programmes.

What the coaches say

Julien Gens – Coach, Ski Club Val d’Ayas – Valle d’Aosta

“Above all, we were surprised by the speed and the feeling, which is very similar to skiing on hard, fast snow. It is also a very useful technical training tool because it highlights mistakes and allows athletes to correct them.”

Sabrina Fanchini – Coach, Ski Club Rongai – Lombardy

“We had a very positive experience. The athletes were able to maintain continuity in their training and we feel they made significant progress. Now we are curious to get back on snow and see how much of the work done in Presolana will transfer to the winter season.”

Michele Morelli – Coach, Ski Club Terminillo – Lazio

“We arrived with high expectations, but the reality exceeded them. The slope is extremely high-performing and allows an extraordinary number of repetitions. It is a surface that requires precision and very clean skiing, making it extremely useful from a technical point of view.

“The organisation and hospitality were also excellent.”

Ski legends Benni Raich and Marlies Schild visit Presolana

One of the highlights of the summer was the almost incognito arrival of two true legends of world skiing, Benni Raich and Marlies Schild, thanks to the collaboration with Sunkid, a Neveplast partner.

Accompanied by two of their children and a group of young athletes from Skigymnasium Stams, they travelled to Presolana Ski Arena 365 to personally test the slope while exploring new training solutions to complement glacier skiing.

“We were pleasantly surprised. The slope can be an excellent tool for continuing to train during the summer and represents a very interesting opportunity, especially for younger athletes, during periods when skiing on snow is not possible.”

A real snowpark for freestyle skiing and snowboarding

One of the most interesting surprises of this first summer was the response to the freestyle area: a real snowpark equipped with rails and boxes, which proved popular with both beginners and more experienced athletes who travelled to Presolana specifically to train.

The contests organised throughout the summer also attracted strong participation, helping to make the snowpark a lively area particularly appealing to younger visitors.

The success achieved during these first months is already leading to plans for a further development of the freestyle area.

Successful public opening days

The positive results have not been limited to competitive training. Another major source of satisfaction has been the success of the Wednesday and Sunday public opening sessions, which attracted people with very different levels of experience and objectives.

Some put on skis for the very first time, while others simply came to have fun or “shake off the rust” ahead of the winter season. Many also took advantage of the presence of instructors from Scuola Sci Magica Presolana to enjoy a ski lesson.

A home for EVERYONE

Presolana Ski Arena 365 truly aims to be a home for everyone who loves winter sports.

This summer, the facility also welcomed athletes from Enjoyski Sport with physical and sensory disabilities, who were able to train both in free skiing and on courses set with gates.

Accessibility is also supported by the large car park located directly below the slope and by the ski lift, which makes the facility easier to use for athletes with reduced mobility and wheelchair users.

Bringing the mountains to life 12 months a year

Lorenzo Pasinetti – CEO, Presolana Ski

“To be honest, I did not expect such an incredible response. We were particularly impressed by the interest shown by ski clubs coming from across Europe and all over Italy. Seeing so many young athletes, such a lively slope and our Presolana filled with colour during the summer was wonderful.

“Projects like this make a real contribution to developing year-round mountain tourism and allow people to experience the mountains in summer through sporting activities that are also capable of attracting a younger audience.”

Nicolò Bertocchi – CEO, Neveplast

“What pleased me most was seeing the success of the public opening sessions. We perhaps expected a more cautious response, but instead we saw so many people coming to try skiing, learn and simply have fun.

“It is an important confirmation that skiing on Neveplast can be enjoyable and truly accessible to everyone. This is our company’s mission: to make skiing accessible to everyone, in every season.”

Tailor-made hospitality

The collaboration with Scuola Sci Magica Presolana and Scuola Sci Mood Sport has been fundamental to the success of the first summer.

One of the project’s key added values is its “turnkey” service. This includes not only access to the slope and training sessions, with gates and timing systems available on request, but also assistance with accommodation, restaurants, athletic preparation and dry-land training in the gym.

The goal is to offer ski clubs a complete training camp experience, establishing Presolana as a reference point for skiing and snowboarding 365 days a year.

After a first summer full of visitors and positive feedback, Presolana Ski Arena 365 is now looking ahead to the coming months with an autumn calendar already packed with bookings.
