Swiss Winter Village in Milan: Ski on the Neveplast track dreaming of the Olympic Games
It's already winter at the Swiss Winter Village. Everyone is skiing on the Neveplast track in Gae Aulenti.
From November 7 to 27, the trendy Piazza Gae Aulenti transforms into the Swiss Winter Village with a Neveplast ski slope that allows you to experience the thrill of skiing and snow tubing, even in the city, without snow.
The installation, designed by Switzerland Tourism, offers a taste of the winter season with igloos and chalets and the completely free rental of equipment (skis, boots, and poles).
Ski lessons are provided by instructors from the prestigious GR Ski Academy, founded by Giorgio Rocca. It is already sold out. More than 800 schoolchildren have booked a lesson on the track amid the skyscrapers.
Niccolò Bertocchi, CEO of Neveplast, said: “We immediately welcomed with great enthusiasm the proposal from Switzerland Tourism to create a winter village in one of Milan's iconic squares. We share the mission of promoting the culture of skiing and snow sports, starting from the cities. The Winter Olympics are coming soon, and we cannot be unprepared for the event that will change the face of our country. At Neveplast, we are ready to contribute to promoting winter sports culture, also with an eye towards the Olympics, by bringing snow to city centers to encourage more people, especially the younger generations, to get involved in these wonderful disciplines.”
Sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, the initiative aims to create a symbolic bridge towards the 2026 Olympics. The track was inaugurated by Michelle Hunziker, a spokesperson for Switzerland Tourism.
The schedule of ski lessons includes daily and evening sessions thanks to the excellent lighting system of the track. In the morning, from 9 AM to 3 PM, sessions are reserved for school groups, and in the afternoon until 9 PM, for amateur sports associations of the Municipality of Milan and individual guests (adults and children) who want to try skiing for the first time or improve their technique with tips from professionals. To try the track, registration is mandatory at www.svizzera.it/swisswintervillage.
Christina Glaeser, director of Switzerland Tourism, said: “We bring skiing to the city to let Milanese children experience a fun and educational activity that requires agility and coordination. Even the most sedentary audience is welcome in our village,” she continued. The goal is to promote not only mountain destinations but also the cities, easily reachable from Milan by train, that well represent the many facets of Swiss tourism.”
