Scandinavian Team Battle 2023: freestyle ski and rock & roll at the NP Snowpark in CopenHill

For the third consecutive year, the world's freestyle skiing elite gathered at CopenHill, the world's most extraordinary waste-to-energy plant with a Neveplast slope on the roof. On a warm Saturday in June, the final section of the slope hosted an epic showdown as the best freestyle skiers competed for the title of King of the Scandinavian Team Battle 2023.

Jakob Ebskamp, Marketing Manager at CopenHill, said: "This year's Scandinavian Team Battle was a huge success, the biggest event CopenHill has ever organized! It's incredible that the world's best skiers come to Copenhagen in the summer to ski on a plastic slope. This year, the newly coated Neveplast at the end of CopenHill allowed us to create an even crazier setup, which the athletes loved. The highlight of the course was the massive Neveplast cannon-tube, where the athletes performed their best tricks. Neveplast's support as the main sponsor this year meant a lot to us, and I hope this is the first of many partnerships between CopenHill and Neveplast."

Event Format

The competition format remained true to its original style, with teams of five from different countries competing in pairs. Each of the ten super riders impressed the audience and judges with high-level difficulty and style. The Neveplast snowpark provided an excellent stage for the riders, who performed big on jumps, rails, and other large features, just like on natural snow.

Given the event's success in terms of audience turnout and significant media coverage, Neveplast is already considering supporting the event for the fourth edition.

Before a massive crowd on the steps and an expert panel of judges, the Scandinavian Team Battle riders once again rocked Copenhagen, delivering a spectacle of style, performance, and creativity rarely seen in freestyle competitions.

The event's strengths included easy public access, excellent weather, and impeccable organization, all set in the magical location of CopenHill, which regularly hosts major events, from music to climbing and trekking competitions.

Results and Podium

Once again, the dynamic Swedish duo of Emil Granbom and Jesper Tjäder stole the show, securing their third consecutive victory.

The Danish team, energized by the home crowd, performed exceptionally well at CopenHill. Isabella Tvede, the only female competitor, dominated the rails, while Jakob Ebskamp, CopenHill's marketing manager and a skilled rider, executed the down-tube jump, the only competitor to do so. Team UK also put on a great show, with Chris McCormick and Felix Klein flawlessly performing back-to-back blind 630s off the big cannon.

The Swiss team secured third place, with Nicola Bolinger impressing the judges with his speed on all the features, and his teammate Christian Moser showcasing his unmatched skill in transition tricks. The Norwegian team took second place, demonstrating mastery and confidence throughout the day. Skier Robert Ruud, in his first experience on plastic slopes, particularly impressed with his maneuver on the Neveplast cannon-tube.

Norwegian Johan Berg delivered the best cork 450 off the cannon-tube, further solidifying his team's strong performance.
