Neveplast brings cross-country skiing to the city: the success of the XC track at Eni Winter Village in Milan

In the heart of Milan, during one of the most significant moments for Italian and international sport, Neveplast helped bring winter sports closer to people than ever before.

On the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, within the Eni Winter Village - set up in Piazza Città di Lombardia - Neveplast, in collaboration with Versalis (Eni), designed and built an urban cross-country ski track, offering thousands of visitors the chance to enjoy an authentic experience even far from the mountains.

Over 3,500 people on the track: a participation success

During the opening period, from February 6 to March 15, 2026, the Neveplast X-Country track recorded outstanding participation: over 3,500 people put on skis and boots to experience the thrill of cross-country skiing in the city.

Children, adults, families, schools and first-time skiers took turns along the track, often enjoying their very first experience on skis. A clear sign of how strong the desire is to approach winter sports when they are made accessible, simple and engaging.

A guided, accessible and inclusive experience

One of the most appreciated aspects of the initiative was its inclusive and educational approach.

All participants were supported by qualified instructors, with full equipment rental available, making the experience accessible even to those who had never skied before.

During the Paralympic period, the track also welcomed people with disabilities, offering them the opportunity to approach cross-country skiing in a safe, supported and highly inclusive environment. A meaningful moment, fully aligned with the Paralympic spirit.

Technology and sustainability: introducing Neveplast X-Country

At the core of the initiative was the new Neveplast XC track, an innovative system designed to replicate as closely as possible the feeling of skiing on real snow.

The surface was made using materials provided by Versalis - HDPE Balance® and EVA Balance® - derived up to 98% from renewable sources and ISCC PLUS certified, confirming a strong commitment to increasingly sustainable solutions.

The track, developed as a complete technical loop, allowed users to experience both main cross-country skiing techniques:

  • skating (free technique)
  • classic technique

Ensuring smooth movement, safety and a realistic skiing experience.

A project we are proud of

Niccolò Bertocchi CEO Neveplast “Being selected for a project set within the context of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is a great source of pride for Neveplast. Bringing cross-country skiing to an urban square, in the vibrant heart of the city, means actively contributing to the spread of winter sports culture, breaking down geographical barriers and making these disciplines accessible to everyone.

This initiative demonstrates how innovation, sustainability and vision can turn into real experiences capable of engaging the public and leaving a lasting impact.

Neveplast continues its journey with the goal of bringing the mountains closer to people, 365 days a year.
