Great start in France with the Neveplast track at La Foux d’Allos

A successful debut in France for the Neveplast track at La Foux d’Allos.

The ski resort of La Foux d’Allos, located in the heart of the Southern Alps in France, where you can ski on 230 km of snowy slopes in winter, has chosen Neveplast for summer skiing in 2022.

Throughout the summer, a 164-meter-long and 12-meter-wide Neveplast ski track, served by a conveyor belt, has been operational. To further enhance the appeal of the tourist and sports redevelopment project of Val d’Allos, a 60-meter-long Neveplast TUBBY track with a jump has been constructed. This project was carried out in collaboration with Sunkid, a long-time partner of the Bergamo-based company.

Jean-Sebastien Muet, head of Leisure Solution Group for the development of leisure activities in Val d’Allos, said: “This is the first track of its kind in France, and I am very proud of how we managed to complete it in record time. It is a track that is providing fun for everyone, from children to adults, from young athletes of ski clubs and teams to beginners learning to ski in summer in a family-friendly environment, ready for real snow in a few months. From the start, we had a great connection with Neveplast: it is a very serious company that, like us, cares deeply about two issues: the development and promotion of skiing and environmental sustainability.”

Destagionalization Strategy

The Foux d’Allos ski resort, along with Seignus, is part of the Espace Lumiere, a renowned ski area within the Mercantour National Park, a favorite destination for both winter and summer tourism. To enhance the summer offerings of the French resort and make it more attractive year-round, the company managing the tourism development of Val d’Allos planned a ski and snowboard school operational even in summer.

The Neveplast project (ski and tubing tracks) is part of Val d’Allos’s strategic plan, which, through a policy of tourist destagionalization, aims to redistribute tourist flows over different or longer periods beyond the winter months by expanding summer offerings.

This strategy has been trending for years among mountain ski resorts increasingly investing in off-season projects to ensure the sustainability of the entire system.

The Neveplast Ski Track at La Foux d’Allos: A Viable Alternative for Ski Clubs' Glacier Training

The Neveplast ski track has also proven to be an excellent alternative for ski clubs. In this scorching summer, with struggling glaciers mostly closed, they have been able to train on a surface that simulates skiing on natural snow almost to perfection.
